WELCOME TO TOWN!

Welcome to the city of Rector! And welcome to our new community website. We hope you find it helpful in learning more about our community and what it has to offer. We do indeed feel there is something special about Rector -- we think it is the sense of family that is evident among our residents. We are sincerely concerned about one another and want to celebrate accomplishments, as well as show support in times of difficulty. In essence, we believe small-town traditional values are alive and well in Rector, Arkansas.

While we face the challenges of many small towns in rural areas, we also never want to lose sight of the positive sense of community that is part of everyday life here -- something many are looking for in our society and often never find.

We are proud of our homes and businesses, numerous churches, modern school system with excellent staff and facilities, beautiful parks system, solid medical and dental services, well-equipped fire and police departments and, above all, lots of friendly people.

We are thankful for the traditions that we hold dear in Rector, but we also are looking to the future. It is our goal to make our community a better place to live through expanded opportunities for all. This is the daunting challenge we face -- and, fortunately, we have many community-minded residents and volunteers working every day to help make those goals realities.

In scanning our new website, featured are many of the individuals and organizations who are dedicated to a better Rector. We invite you to join them in those civic endeavors -- working together, we can make a difference.

An important aspect of our renewed sense of purpose is the creation of a new Community Development Office. We are working to renovate and restore the historic old city jail on Main Street to house that office in an attractive setting that also will serve as our exciting new visitors center.

We hope all Rectorites enjoy the new website and continue to find it informative as we add more features. We also trust it will be a helpful step in spurring the growth of new businesses and industry and convincing others to make Rector their home.
